I think that’s what caused mine
Well actually my pdoc said the illness caused the isolation
I think that’s what caused mine
Well actually my pdoc said the illness caused the isolation
I doubt it.
I dont think so
I’m kind of isolated now
Getting used to it but the illness causes isolation it’s not the other way around
I’m isolated. I see my dad on the regular but I don’t hang around people. I don’t like being around people.
no, I remember withdrawing and isolating myself but it was bc I wasn’t well, if you were naturally shy then it might be normal to isolate but I had a definate change at 15yrs old
I was pretty shy before the illness and socially isolated, but the illness caused isolation even more. But I doubt it is reason alone, but just a factor, not the reason for this illness in particular.
some part of me feels like it contributed to it/exacerbated stuff but generally speaking i feel like the onset was just inevitable and not really tied to anything explicitly.
Ooof no. My main thing I’ve found is my paranoia is based on other people’s opinions of me. What they’re saying about me, whether they’re watching me, whether they’re making fun of me. When I’m stable it doesn’t matter but as soon as something :“unfair” happens it’s like it triggers my paranoia that the whole world is watching me and against me. I have no clue why. I’ve been trying to work on that core belief.
Mine was probably brought on by stress my doctor doesn’t think getting hit in the head sparring helped
I think sz was the cause of social isolation
Stress and fight flight that developed into paranoia. Possibly malnutrition.
No one said this to me, but it rings true for me. I was extremely social before becoming paranoid. The paranoia stops me a lot. And the meds make my thoughts move too slowly for banter.
A good question. In my case I would say no. I would say mine was a mix of being bullied, the stress of being an undiagnosed autistic child and teenager at boarding school, and the intense anxiety of trying to square a circle that couldn’t be squared.
What you said intrigued me. Can doctors tell the difference between meds slowing the thinking and the usual cognitive symptoms of schizophrenia? Can anyone?
I went off my meds onto one that didn’t work and my thinking was much faster, I was more outgoing, and I was quick minded with much better memory. Went on new meds and slowed right back down @Batik21
What about hallucinations and delusions and stuff like that? Sometimes I check out entirely during a psychotic episode and I will get a new med and be temporarily better and I won’t remember the week or two or days that I was out of it. Just the description my wife gives me
I don’t think it was the sole reason in my case but I think it definitely played a part. I think what contributed to my sz was a mix of living in a violent neighborhood, isolation, stress, childhood trauma, and smoking lots of weed.
For those I do reality check with trusted loved ones like my husband @Batik21 . I don’t always agree with him but it at least lets him know where I’m at so he can offer support . I’m told certain beliefs I have all the time are delusions. I just keep them to myself. I think it’s real and others just don’t understand. I just accept that and keep going on with life.
