Does my photography belong in a museum or be considered classic?

What do you think? My photography is posted here

Not yet. So far all youve done is take pictures. For museum or classic pictures they have to be culturally relevant. Iconic, that kind of thing. Promote your work, send to magazines etc and ask for feedback.

my work is about nihilism and loneliness. My book and photos are intended for people to realize that life is meaningless, but we have hope in creating a meaning for themselves.

If this is “culturally relevant” I don’t know.

Whatever your message, you need exposure to get anywhere.

I know. When I get a new computer Inwill expose my work on instagram.

I also will try to get into shows.

If these succeed I’ll publish my book.

After that I’m not sure what to do

Also based on my research, emotional power in a photo is enough to give you a chance at getting them shown in a museum.

Your photos often feel “classical” when they have qualities associated with older painting, film, or traditional photography styles rather than modern fast social-media aesthetics.

Some signs:

balanced composition

calm or timeless mood

natural lighting

strong shadows/light contrast

earthy or muted colors

subjects posed with intention

emotional restraint instead of exaggerated expression

texture and depth

simplicity

Classical images often feel like they could exist outside a specific year.

Common classical influences:

The Starry Night style moodiness

Renaissance paintings

black-and-white street photography

Tarkovsky-style cinema

old film photography

religious or mythic symbolism

Your photos may also feel classical if they have:

silence

ritual feeling

nature symbolism

solitary figures

candle/fire/light motifs

weather atmosphere

ancient-looking spaces

A quick self-test: Ask yourself:

Would this still look interesting in 20 years?

Does it rely on trends or filters?

Does it feel composed rather than random?

Could it be printed in a photo book or gallery?

If yes, it may lean classical.

A lot of “classical” photography is less about expensive gear and more about:

patience

framing

light

emotional tone

visual discipline.

I wouldn’t call my photos “calm.” My work usually has a dark, pessimistic, nihilistic feeling. Sometimes people don’t like that though.

I think its your imagination that.

Depressed people make depressing art lol

I’ve been trying to experiment with happier tones though.

Probably. When I was a kid I made happier photos but slowly moved to dark. Making dark art is a form of therapy. I take my suffering and “put it on” a piece of paper.
