Existential musing

I realised that all my theorising and belief systems are just tools I use to survive the suffering.

That includes philosophy, spiritual concepts such as ‘enlightenment, Quantum Immortality and the Multiple Worlds Interpretation, belief in free will/predeterminism and for others religion are all just methods I and people use to keep surviving.

Not many beliefs have any real proof so can be adhered to as one wishes.

People can follow other people’s beliefs or they can make up their own. It doesn’t really matter as all they are simply tools we use to cope.

No one knows deifnitvely though some people believe them to be.

I was discussing this with Copilot (AI) and we talked about Benatar’s anti natalism and his beliefs, then we talked about Nietzsche using suffering as a tool to becoming; and Camus’s absurdism to the no meaning in the universe and then the root of suffering being desire in Buddhism.

We decided my perspective blended these approaches to life.

To swap and borrow from these philosophies throughout the day as a way to cope is probably the best approach.

For example, I need to meditate everyday (To rest and reset and dissolve the self for a bit). When I struggle to approach it as a learning tool to become a better person. To see the world as having no discernible meaning so as not to ruminate (Camus). And to seek joy anyway and accept life as tragic realism (Benatar) so not to worry about death or continuation.

How do you cope with the suffering people? :face_with_monocle:

I try to avoid the suffering part.

I just keep reminding myself that I don’t know what the future holds.

I accept suffering is a part of life and don’t try to cope through ideas. I don’t add meaning to my suffering. I try to minimize suffering by living rationally. I try to live simple and objective. When I suffer my only cure is being rational. To be irrational when you suffer can increase suffering. I study philosophy but my personal philosophy is live simple. It’s like a cognitive dissonance. Modern philosophy pokes holes in all of the old philosophy to assert itself to prominence. It’s like philosophers try to destroy other philosophers work in the pursuit of truth. Every philosophy I admired as a youth I’ve seen destroyed. I have nothing to stand on, but rationality. Rationality is the destroyer of all ideas and it’s birth place. Good things.
