Yep, all those carbs and grains pushed by Kelloggs and other 1 percenters causes insulin resistance, disease and cancer.
Very interesting. But too much info. Lol
I didn’t read it lol
Just googled it. I watched a yt video on it by that Scientology Dr dude.
It’s not supported by science in many areas. Most cheese is not that good for you, and certainly not in large amounts. Dairy should be limited. Red meat is well proven to cause all sorts of problems and should be extremely limited. Telling people to consume beef tallow?WTF???!!???
Whole, brown grains are good for you in moderation so whole grains listed at the bottom is dangerously bad advice. The soluble fibre in legumes is a rock star and you should be aiming for 50g or more a day of this stuff.
We’re not supposed to get political but the new food pyrmaid is MAHA garbage, especially as it pertains to RFK and his geriatric health musings. His sister who had the lobotomy is the smarter of the pair.
Emphasizing fresh veggies it got right. Limiting seed oils it got right. Pushing away refined sugars and processed foods it got right. Pushing away highly refined carbs that act like sugar it got right. Pushing saturated fats and red meat is completely disconnected from recent, good food science. It also ignores the health benefits of fermented foods, which are extremely well-documented.
The new food pyramid is personally deadly to me between having no gall bladder, diverticular disease, and having a heart condition.
Actually the point of the food pyramid is moderation so I’m stupid.
The food system is corrupted in general. The distribution system, stores etc. doubles at minimum food prices. Processors buy up wholesome food doubling quantity demanded, increasing prices of the good stuff, so it is comparable with their crappy stuff.
As for the pyramid, the only problem I see is putting cheese and meat before legumes, but that’s a kind of decision based on optics. Western diet is carnivorous and alternatives to it are seen as kind of idealistic.
Stores dislike fresh produce and meats because they are difficult to source, difficult to transport, and prone to spoilage. Processed foods hit all the right price points and are generally safe to keep in stock (unless your freezers go down for the frozen stuff). The grocery business would love for you to buy nothing but processed, pre-made foods because that is where their profits are highest.
To be fair, from scientific reviews published in a book like longevity diet, protein is bad in huge amount recommended in the new food pyramid….but sugar in the case of complex sugar is the healthiest form of energy for us but not normal sugar or starch
The study in the book longevity diet showed that you get a higher risk of cancer if you eat a high sugar or high protein diet, healthy fats are OK…in this knowledge economy I would argue that healthy fats such as omega 3 and just nice amount of protein is even more important today because these 2 builds our
brain
I also agree with what you said on processed food
Ultimate the best diet boils down to your job ,career or what you are trying to achieve , a sports athlete needs a diet heavier in sugar if they want short burst of energy, a phd scholar would want a diet heavier in omega 3 for brain health
Idk why they put beef tallow at the top though….basically the old food pyramid is designed for the time where blue collar workers are prominent and in the knowledge society where white collar workers are more prominent, we need more brain food ![]()
Your brain function suffers if you’re not getting enough fat. I prefer mine from nuts, EVOO, avodocado oil, eggs, fish, and some saturated fats within reason.
Refined sugar is pure evil. The less of it the healthier you’ll be. A kiss of honey or fresh fruit is the better choice for sure.
Yup, that’s what I have said. I got mine from evoo cold extracted, salmon, eggs
On a side note, your weight loss is on both cobenfy and mounjaro right, was there a time when you were only on 1 of them?
Not getting political here but I think the main reason why they flipped the food pyramid is because they want Americans to build more muscles as the primary outcome that’s why they raise the protein requirement per pound also
It was on Saxenda and now Wegovy. Haven’t been on Mounjaro. I have adjusted to the Wegovy well enough I’m struggling with some food noise, but it is manageable. I would like to move to Mounjaro.
Currently stuck on a 183 lb plateau. It is annoying.
Nuts are calories and nutrients dense food , not all nuts are made equal, I would only take a few as a snack, since they contains high calories per 100 grams. Try increasing vegetables and reducing rice or grains intake, go strictly for seafood as protein source because those calories per 100 grams is lower than that of other protein sources like beef, lamb, chicken, pork, if you want to eat chicken, go for kampung? (I am unsure what do you call those in Canada, maybe village?) Chicken or black chicken those with a high omega 3 to omega 6 ratio, normal chicken has a 1:10 ratio which is dam low
But be careful on the seafood though, you will want to calculate your mercury intake , win some lose some
Already doing this. I hardly eat rice and when I eat grains they are mostly whole grains. I eat a lot of vegetables.
Absolutely not. I live in the prairies in Western Canada. We can’t get fresh fish here and the canned stuff generally has a mercury risk. I also hate almost all shellfish with a passion. I eat a lot of eggs, use protein powder, add select ground nuts to thai and Indian dishes, and I love me some tofu.
I try to buy organic, free range whole chickens. Expensive, but healthier.
im just glad food education is past the point where people think any thing with fat in it directly converts to body fat when eaten. also any diet low in protein is a bodybuilders nightmare, or basically anybody who wants to have enough muscle to survive a wild squirrel attack
The chicken I was talking about isn’t exactly free range, it’s a breed that’s available in Indonesia for the black chicken and south east asia for the kampung chicken, I am unsure what is the equivalent in Canada, these chicken can fly btw
