Got in a half hour conversation today

With one of the soldiers at work. He was telling me about the security system for the army reserve building we were in and then he started telling me stories of when he was in Kuwait in 2003. It was pretty interesting and he seemed like a nice guy but after half an hour my interest was waning and I was dying to get away. As he was talking all I could think about was, “How am I going to get out of here without being rude?” I finally just interrupted him and said I needed to get back to work. I hope I didn’t offend him. Added bonus: it killed an half hour that otherwise I would be working. I used to talk to the soldiers all the time but I kinda got out of the habit. This was the longest I’ve talked to one of them in the last two years, it actually felt good.

That’s a good day. I like it when my care-co is around for about an hour every once in a while. He tells me about his life in healthcare and social care, not as interesting as soldier’s story’s but it’s nice. It leaves me in good spirits all the time. Little moments truly can be really pleasant
