Groceries - Do you need a loan these days?

Just wondering if any of you all are taking out a reverse mortgage on your homes so that you can buy groceries these days.

I practically am. I just spent 258 dollars on groceries and that before iI stopped at the family dollar for toilet paper(its cheaper there). So I spent about 280 this afternoon on groceries and household items. That will hopefully last us a week or so.

I may have to start selling organs. Anybody need a spleen? I dont know what it does so I imagine that I dont need mine.

That’s serious you know. The affordability crisis for food in North America just goes to show that the gap between the “have’s” and “have not’s” is widening.

Thankfully for me, i don’t eat much now that I’m on mounjaro. So it offsets the cost of having to buy food.

My wife eats almost as much as me but weighs almost half my body weight. Not sure how that works. She must go number 2 a lot or something.

@SzSupportAdmin A whopper from Burger King in a Tier 1 city such as Shenzhen costs $2 US dollars or ¥15 RMB. Practically transportation & food costs are so much cheaper in China than the USA.

I spend £600 a month to feed me and 2 young boys. I mostly get essentials with that. It’s disgusting.

Maybe there’s a different in digestive capabilities between you. I know since being on antipsychotics, my body doesn’t burn up fats or the bad fats rather, up very well. Could be she doesn’t use antipsychotics?

She actually does use an antipsychotic. Not for schizophrenia but for bipolar. She told me she was misdiagnosed with bipolar and they told her she didnt have it but kept giving her the pills. I dont completely understand their reasoning there, but whatever, not my business.

I forget which AP it was.

My husband and I are literally doing a second mortgage to help so we can take care of some things. Food is so expensive! But so is everything else right now. We’re going to change of phone and internet and we’re considering moving to help alleviate some of the costs. I’m not working and neither is he so it’s rough.

I feel terrible for everyone. Being single has been a blessing for me. My benefits get used up by the medication but, at least I’m not struggling to eat.

Praying things improve for everyone everywhere.

I think it’s unfair Governments don’t call out the food companies and supermarkets for making record breaking profits (especially the supermarkets). There’s no justification for how much their CEO’s make

While Trump gaslights us and tells us it’s the “best economy ever.”

I spend $700 on groceries for me and my mom a month and we eat good everyday, got paper towels and essentials. I shop for deals and plan meals. 20 years ago $300 a month fed me and my mom good. Inflation.

The prediction is that the 2nd American Revolution is coming where the poor will overthrow the rich including the government establishment. The chaos of the domestic affairs of any given country affects the foreign affairs of that same country. The $38-trillion US Government deficit funds the defence industry rather than alleviate those living below the poverty line.

I’m hurting more from the gas prices than the food prices. I got money for my birthday and spent a huge chunk of it on gas and a haircut (which also got more expensive) :frowning:

Walmart is so much cheaper than the major grocery stores around here.
