Are you thinking of moving there? i lived in home for people with mental illnesses once. It was ok, the people were nice enough, but there were a few dramas. The main things I disliked was the loud Tv playing terrible music 24-7. I made a nice friend though, who gave me a guitar. Wish I didn’t lose his number.

I was in Soteria House, a group home for schizophrenics that ran in the seventies and early eighties. I guess I didn’t have a choice whether to live there or not and made the best of it. There were six other residents and I actually had a lot of alone time. Saw some interesting, crazy stuff during my 1 1/2 years there. They sent me a bill for rent every four months but they never made me pay, I lived there for free the entire time but I wasn’t on SSI or SSDI so I lived with no money except if my parents gave me $5 or $10 a month infrequently.

I live in a group home in the UK which I don’t have a choice to live here. It’s had its ups and downs over the 15 years I’ve been here but I have some awesome housemates and friends and it’s nice for the company, all the people have a intellectual disability and autism so there is moments but we all get on and we are like a family with staff here 24/7 in shifts that do the cleaning and sometimes cooking. I still maintain full benefits so im quit well off, I have a deputy at social services that manages my money so if I go into a manic I don’t blow it all and go into debt again, he gives me a weekly allowance and I save quite a lot so all in all not too bad here. I’m happy.
