He-Man references aside ( I saw the creater of He-Man actually just died), it is so boring without power.
We were without power for a little over 2 hours I think. I hadnt charged my phone so couldnt use that much in case it was out for awhile and I needed to make a call. We got so bored we went to Mcdonalds for ice cream(Mcflurry’s specifically).
What do you/would you do when you are without electricity?
I don’t lose power very often, and when I do lose it it’s restored very quickly. I got hit with a Cat 5 hurricane and only lost power for 15 hours (I’m on the same grid as a hospital, so maybe that’s a factor).
My neighbor has a whole-house generator from Generac (that runs on natural gas). I think it cost him $20K, but he needs it because his wife has to take life-saving medication that must be kept cold at all times (and it gets hot really fast in Florida with no a/c).
We are way too dependent on electricity, aren’t we? You lose just about everything when you lose electricity. I have some lanterns and a weather radio, but, and this may sound weird, there is something freeing about losing electricity. That said, it’s not good to be so dependent on one thing.
Usually when I lose power it’s for about 5 days. All the wealthy areas in my city get taken care of first. We’re the poorest and last of all neighborhoods to get taken care of. It’s been that way consistently for the last 11 years I’ve lived here
