well no pasta anymore I guess…what kind of things can I buy to eat as far as meals frozen food that I can eat being pre diabetic? really need to know.
Frozen vegetables, frozen fruit, frozen salmon, frozen fish, frozen chicken. Whole grain pasta should be Ok with no sugar added pasta sauce. Non fat greek yogurt, non fat milk, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, oatmeal.
Daves Killer bread if you can afford it or Orowheat Multi grain bread, a little brown rice, dried black and pinto beans. No sugar added peanut butter. Chia seeds or ground flax. Eggs
Frozen turkey breast.
No canned soup or chili. No canned fruit in syrup; only natural juice or water. No sugary breakfast cereals, Cheerios aren’t bad or Wheat Chex or shredded wheat.
No processed meats; no sausage, salami, ham, bacon, no bologna.
Most TV dinners or other frozen meals are ultra processed and have a lot of sodium and thus are unhealthy. Olives are Ok in moderation. Whole wheat tortillas with refried beans and cheese.
I wouldn’t recommend frozen dinners especially if you’re on a budget. Id recommend you make your own frozen dinners and buy cheap reusable plastic containers. Then make frozen meals with a ton of frozen vegetables
@77nick77 oh thank you so much…that really helps.
It’s a common misconception that diabetics can’t eat carbs. Not true. But choose complex carbs over simple carbs and only eat one serving by measuring it to be sure.
That’s how I reversed my diabetes. I still ate complex carbs but I measure them (still do).
I eat a cup of a variety of berries in the morning, rice with protein for lunch, and veggies with a complex carb and protein for dinner. For snacks I’m eating dairy free yogurt (I can’t have dairy) and veggies
No pasta, no rice.
Limit bread intake
Drink lots of water
No soda, no alcohol
No sweets
Consume lower carb foods like lean meats, chicken, fish
Veggies are fine
Buy beans, lentils chickpeas, etc.
Bring to boil and simmer for about an hr.
Buy whole grains. Brown rice, barley, whole grain pasta.
Boil it for a few minutes.
Keep the pots in the fridge.
Put 1/2 cup beans per meal and one tablespoon carbs with frozen veggies in a bowl. Microwave. Add sauces sparingly to taste.
Cauliflower wings are really good.
well sorry…nurse said my blood work was fine and I’m not pre diabetic…sorry.
That’s great
Veggies (frozen or fresh) and yogurt as a dip.
A cup of yogurt is only like 150 calories and I don’t even count the calories in vegetables… you can eat a ton for like 100 calories so. You can get unlimited veggies and a whole cup of yogurt for only 250 calories.
What kind of vegetables would you recommend? I hate carrots but other than that.
Sugar snap peas
Celery
Firm tomato slices
Green peppers
Apple slices
Honestly my advice would be to get whatever you like. Reason being you’ll eat more of them! The more vegetables you eat the more weight you lose because they’re the lowest calorie foods and are virtually 95% water and fiber. I give myself free reign in the vegetable aisle. But I did some research on the cheapest vegetables if your out to save money.
Carrots, cabbage, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, mushroom, Essentially anything you like in a salad
Another idea is to buy frozen premixed veggies. A whole 2kg bag is $6 and the whole bag is only 1600 calories or something. Even if you ate the whole big ass bag of corn, peas, carrots and beans mixed you’d lose Hella weight and it’s almost impossible to eat that much lol.
Only thing I would exclude is things like potatoes and maybe corn or maybe just have them in limited amounts. Anything else is fair game imo
Yogurt mixed with hot sauce or any kind of low calorie sauce is my best hack tho! Can make a giant salad with anything you like and covered in yogurt and hot sauce and seasonings etc and it’s only 300 calories lol
I said it once on here but I”ll repeat myself… I am not pre diabetic…no need to keep this thread open @SzSupportAdmin could you please lock this thread.
