I’m still only 30% sure
Psychward visit mom called the ambulance.
What i mean is how did you accept your dx
Nothing dramatic, I was living in Soteria House a house for schizophrenics. and I was in denial for several months, then a visit to a psychiatrist convinced me I had it.
I had little idea what SZ was. I just knew my grandma I rarely saw had it. I looked it up and it matched all my symptoms like voices and visuals, bad hygiene, low motivation. I thought the voices were real but held some disbelief. Psychiatrist had me go to the hospital.
I didn’t really fight against it I just went with what my doctor said. Untypical experience.
At first they said i had bipolar disorder for a few years when I was a teenager, but then the attending psychiatrist said it was sza after I talked about the Voices. They gave me a BPD diagnosis, too, cuz of my tendency to self harm. I’ve been on Social Security since I was 18…haven’t been able to ever hold a “real” job, just attended graduate school for nothing.
I was asking how do people accept the diagnosis internally process and realise, accept it?
Not having it doesn’t change anything if you still have symptoms of it. I don’t see a reason to not accept it. It’s just a label.
I feel gifted if i believe i dont have it and cursed if i think i have it
I find it comforting to know I have it because it explains my experiences and provides a way to escape it.
Oh no, i feel my experiences are spiritual and a higher power within me. There are bad experiences but good ones too
Ah okay I didn’t understand what you meant but I think I do now.
By doctors definition of my symptoms I have schizophrenia. Im okay with that even if it feels like something else is going on. Its in my family and meds help two things I cant deny.
The meds settle my thoughts a bit i think a lot. Im ok today i feel ok in myself, sure i get odd things happen but i’ll be ok whether im psychic and have higher powers is my business and nobody else can change me. I dont want to change myself.
All power to you. Glad you’re feeling okay today.

Honestly I feel that the diagnosis that fits me the most is bipolar disorder.
Currently my diagnosis is bipolar and the doctors that have known me for the longest times have diagnosed me with bipolar.
But with that said I’ve also been diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder a couple of times before, so who really knows.
Cops took me to the hospital after I had full blown psychosis in public.
There at the hospital they said I was psychotic. They drugged me up and I went to sleep.
It took a couple of months until they told me I would need treatment, that recovery after having psychosis for such a long time means I would need meds for the rest of my life.
Was in the psych ward. At first they thought I had depression, until I replied out loud to a voice no one else heard
