I dont know . Some says 30% people with sz can’t work …
They say upto 1/3 of those affected can generally work at least part time. Not necessarily full time. Many of the people who do work do not often use special community forums like ours I’ve noticed.
You find a lot of people on large public platforms like Reddit and Social Media who are in work whilst dealing with this kind of illness.
i think i read once that 90% of people with sz are unemployed i may be wrong tho
well I can’t work…
I hope as technology continues to grow there will be more easy work at home opportunities for us. And something more mentally stimulating than a lot of the current work at home jobs out there. And part time jobs might I add so we can keep our benefits.
I don’t think I can work, maybe only if it’s a part time low stress job. One of my drs agreed it has to be low stress.
I don’t know the percentages, but I know that I can, under very specific conditions, work part time successfully.
Probably not enough to fully support myself anymore : I start getting stressed and symptomatic.
But it is very hard to find the jobs that I can handle that is not going to destroy my body at my age.
I have not had much luck finding one that meets these conditions in order to stay working over the long haul.
I don’t know the percentage of the Sz people who have a fulltime job in China, but I know a few of them are struggling with the side effects of APs such as somnolence, fatigue or anxiety. That’s really painful.
It’s a shame so many don’t do it
I was forced to work to change my situation as the benefits were taking months and I could not survive as I had no money
As it turns out the blessing was giving me structure and routine with other real world things to care about
It nearly never happened
It’s not been progress the whole journey. Hit the kerb many times and had to start over
The adjustments I get help a lot too
Flexibility with work hours could be a door in for many. My job starts at 2pm. In the early part of the day I’m too groggy from the meds, so this is a very good arrangement. It’s hard to find jobs with such hours though.
I know the percentage of unemployment is high.
I work an average of 20 hours a week, do my internship 16 hours a week, and do full time graduate school and am barely holding it together.
Im burning out very freaking quick. I need to manage another three months then I’ll be done with my first internship and get a 6 month break of just grad school and 20 hours of work until my next internship starts.
I feel like I’ll be able to handle full time work without graduate school and wearing three different hats of employee, intern, and student.
I’m exhausted, mentally unwell, lonely, and want to quit so bad. I just keep plowing on telling myself “just gotta make it one more day…” then I tell myself the next day, “just gotta make it one more day…”
I have no idea how some SZs can work. I spend all day dealing with my thoughts. Those who do have my respect.
I wonder too.
I used to work while still dealing with sz. I worked full time as an attorney for the US federal government. I finally got to where I couldn’t do it anymore. It was really sad for me.
I understand the heartbreak, but someone just has to summit Everest not live there. Youve proven yourself for sure.
I did my registered nurse degree completely psychotic. I studied and took the boards completely psychotic. I worked 3 months as a RN completely psychotic. Then I went to the psychward a second time and I was too out of it to continue.
I’m fine, just getting older and going through the process of aging. Thanks a lot for asking. How are you? Are you still looking for remedies for negative symptoms and cognitions?
