How much does a group home cost?

I’m sorry @Lilyofthevalley @Rainstorm im sorry about those ignorant comments on group homes.

Not all group homes are awful.

There are some decent ones

I dont know how ignorant they are, but they are certainly overly negative.

My group home experience wasnt hell, but it wasnt ideal either.

Lots of rules and restrictions, low quality food, congregate living.

If you hsve no choice, you have no choice. Living alone is better in my opinion.

I just want to know how to live on my own with $700/mo.

Section 8 housing isn’t even open to applications where I live because he waitlist is over 10 years!

I get just under 1000 a month and can swing it because I bought a house with low upkeep

On the less than 700 dollars i was getting on social assistance it was too tight

I was in a short term group living home.

They did want to know where one was going when going out and when one might be back.

They also might want to know if one is eating breakfast ,lunch, dinner with them or not.

Also sometimes they assist with giving medication.

Otherwise one sometimes gets ones own room so theres privacy there or in bathroom.

Thr two other woman living there became besties and i was left out and the men there barely spoke to me so i kept to myself.

I went to the gym back then.

I Wrote on the white board sometimes going to the gym and back soon if i could not find staff to tell in person.

A staff lady helped teach me how to crewchette and sew.

The food was fabulous.

Such nice food.

One had to clean once a week.

I think you might love it and feel supported and have a good life there .

You could give it a go while your Mother is with you and she could visit weekends or you stay with her weekends and rest of the time at the group home.

They have outings sometimes to play bowling or eat pizza out or so.

One may have to pay for those expenses oneself though.
