Are you afraid that your not hearing what the other person’s saying so you don’t reply nicely. It has all to do with what your hearing which is scrambled and wrong
This actually happens at work sometimes because of ruckus. So sometimes I will give a “wrong” reply. I don’t beat myself up over it though. I think the other person most likely understands I misheard.

I hear fine it’s just the voices in my head sometimes try to compete for reality.
