I lack drive! I don't do much!

Since I got ill lost the feeling to do stuff. Not even stuff I liked. It’s very strange.

Have you experienced the same?

I’m not depressed.

Yeah it’s the meds

I don’t know, pretty unmotivated even without drugs. But it is what it is, shape of the disease.

I used to get very restless when I didn’t do stuff. Then ideas popped up in the head and I did things.

I only lie on the couch. I can lie on the couch all day. It doesn’t bother me. I don’t even think about it nor does my body protest.

I wish I had some energy to do things.

Take a hot shower followed by a 2-3 minute cold one.

That is what drives me every day!

I think the trick is to change your mindset about it.

Some days are worse than others when it comes to avolition, right?

So rather than hate those feelings, accept them. Say to one self that I feel like this because of the meds and the illness and don’t hate oneself for it.

On the odd days where you find yourself doing stuff, like reading a book or playing the guitar for example be pleased with yourself for it.

Just don’t hate yuorself for it, that is the key.

The other trick is to make whatever it is you want to do easy for yourself. I mean set up the book or the guitar in steps i.e. get your reading place clear, get the seat where you want it to be, have the guitar tuned or whatever. The idea is to make these little steps to make what it is you want to do as easy as possible.

Then when you sit there and just make an effort for say 2 minutes to play guitar or read a books, say,”I am going to do this for 2 minutes”, then when you do that you find yourself doing it you do it for much longer than that because you are there anyway.

Another example would be sayingf to yourself “I am going to meditate for 30 seconds”, then once in positon you’ll find that you do it for much longer because you are in position now anyway, if you get what i mean?

Anyway hope this helps.

I think its a negative symptom of this illness, I use to get it but that was a long time ago, it was really difficult to do even the simplest thing & I really didn’t do anything for a long time as well.
