I lost my smile due to long term AP use

I’m gonna show you a picture of me at 18. I had a beautiful smile, very even, you can clearly see my straight teeth. I loved that smile.

Now after being on APs for over 8 years my smile has changed. It may look subtle but I really notice the differences. My upper lip is crooked and my bottom lip doesn’t move down as much so you can’t see my teeth as much. It really bothers me, I miss my old smile. And that recent photo is me smiling as big as I can. I’m also left with Tardive Dyskinesia after 5 years on Loxapine.

Your smile is still very beautiful.

The slight crookedness is in both pictures. It’s actually cute, not bad at all. It adds character to your face. Facial changes do occur with age. I highly doubt you have facial changes from your AP.

My face is changing with age and it’s not easy to accept. My hair is changing too. It’s not as thick , it’s going gray, and it’s now easily frizzy. I do understand it’s hard to accept aging.

That said, I have to say you still have a pretty smile and you look warm and friendly in both pics.

I totally get that. I’m trying to embrace my aging right now since I’m so unhappy about it. I can’t stop it and it’s a part of life so I need to accept it with grace. I’m working on it. You’re not alone
