I would like to ask you all a question

I have been considering starting an actual website at some point to drive additional traffic to this forum.

At this point, it is an unknown how much our finances will grow or shrink in the coming months however.

I was thinking if our donations through gofundme and subscriptions to patreon continue to push our finances up, I would maybe go ahead with this plan. If our finances start to dwindle and the donations start to poop out, maybe it would be best to save it exclusively for hosting fees.

This is your money(and some of mine since im paying the patreon fees on transactions), however. So I want to make sure you all have a say in the direction we go.

I figure we could make a website for 200 or 300 dollars a year. Maybe some options will cost a bit more, but we should be able to keep it reasonable.

What are your thoughts? Try to expand a bit and get new sz to the site with a website? or just leave our humble community as it is and keep our hosting fees in reserve?

I feel if you we’re to have a website then it would be introducing more illnesses than exclusively sz/sza/bipolar. I think it would be attracting all mh issues. Like Mind or Nami

I personally doubt most schizophrenics want to go online and search for forums. It took me over ten years since being diagnosed to contemplate a forum. I knew about the old forum but found it too triggering. Even 3 years ago when i first joined it was extremely triggering, i quit a couple of times. I still find it triggering occasionally still. There arent enough people to join unless you joined eg. facebook and advertised on other forums/groups or fb page with this link

Thanks for your input @Ducky . They say that 1% or so of the population is sz. Then you have sza and other psychotic disorders. I realize that there are many who are not functional enough to participate in a forum, though.

But schizophrenia.com did the same thing for many years. Had a website that linked to forums.

I was just thinking we could do the same thing on a smaller scale at a lower cost.

Maybe I am overreaching. I am tending to be a bit all or nothing lately. I may be a bit consumed with trying to make this similar to what we had.

But I will wait for more opinions before I trash the idea.

This idea was already done before by szadmin on a larger scale.

If this idea gets voted down….I honestly may consider financing it on my own out of compulsion :slight_smile:

YOu know what? I will do this project out of my own pocket. I dont need to use our funds to do it.

I would enjoy building a website anyway. I have done it a few times in the past, but its been awhile.
