Maybe this is inappropriate to ask

The Sz administrator was paying for us for over a decade, maybe the time was about right for us to take responsibility and pay for ourselves or use the GoFundMe. He shelled out a lot of money out of his own pocket to help people he didn’t really know and if it comes down to basics, he doesn’t really owe us anything.

Nonetheless, would it be inappropriate or rude or presumptuous or shameless to suggest to him that maybe instead of giving up completely on the site, that instead he pays half for it and we pay the other half? It’s just a thought that crossed my mind, I wouldn’t really expect him to do it and he would have good reasons for not doing so and I wouldn’t blame him.

To speculate even further, this wouldn’t be fair, but maybe if he just shut down the parents/caregivers forum, and kept the diagnosed forum with us paying half, maybe it would be so cheap that the Sz.admin could keep the old forums going and it would save a lot of the work and uncertainty going on now about starting a permanent new forum.

I wouldn’t want to feel like we’re begging or greatly imposing on him but I wonder if the Sz.admin would keep the old forums if it just cost him one or two hundred dollars out of his pocket each month instead of the $500-$700 it’s costing him each month now. @SzSupportAdmin

its a nice thought, @77nick77 , but what youre saying could require us to raise several hundred every month. And while the donations were generous, I dont know if the stamina will remain for donations like this over the long term.

Right now, if we keep our costs low…what we have a trickle incoming, we should be able to stay operational here for a long time.

As for asking szadmin if we can help pay. I Know for a fact that he has been offered this option before. When the forum went dark a year ago I , and many others offered him financial assistance and he never responded.

I mean, you are free to try to communicate with him and see if he will agree to something, but I doubt its going to work.
