IQ and real life functioning in schizophrenia. IME they are far from mutually inclusive. It is possible to do well on IQ tests, proctored or hobbyist, while struggling with the practical application of intelligence to real life problem solving. It is similar to ASD & adaptive functioning <IQ . A major part of it involves impaired executive functioning. Poor organising and planning. Difficulty prioritising when it comes to multistep tasks. It is not a ‘character defect’. Trying harder is far from guaranteed as an effective solution. It has been far more disabling than any positive or negative symptoms, for me.
My IQ is like negative
I doubt that.
I have a very high iq, but have never been able to earn much more than minimum wage. I’m also convinced that I have some learning disabilities, but in college I tested as very high IQ. In high school, I tested as above the 99th percentile in standardized national tests. Yes, I aced college, but I struggle to transfer those skills into real life. So I may as well be low iq. I’m very sensitive about this issue in my life.
A very similar situation to mine.
I used to say that I’m a genius without an object. Lol
My IQ was Soo low it created a black hole
on the paper… It was a bad day ![]()

God popped out of the black hole
and said your stupidity defies logic and space time… Then the test sheet fell into the black hole…
They ask me to leave at that point ![]()
I was also very good in college and university but there was a steep decline since sz hit. After first university semester I got sz and dropped university for a year. Before I had excellent grades and had several jobs but not with my degree. Then took me almost 10 years years to graduate because of sz relapse from stopping meds for 2 years, almost failed one class and my grades were much lower. I only worked for one week in my degree domain. My negative and cognitive symptoms gradually worsened 1 year before diagnosis even before being on any meds. And meds did not fix them, I think they are making them worse.
I tested as 116 IQ, but am actually quite stupid.
I was 26 years old before I learned to spell IQ correctly.
I’m sorry that all happened to you @D3VOUR
