Last US cents sold at auction for $16.76 million were worth a pretty penny

I don’t understand how this is going to work out. I’m not sure what the sales tax in my current state is, but my old state the sales tax was 7%. So if you buy something for a dollar, its going to cost you $1.07. How is this supposed to happen with no new pennies? How are you supposed to get your change?

LMAOOO dude… we actually got rid of the penny years ago in canada..i think its been like a decade… believe me its not so bad. basically what we did was if its 3 cents or more, you round up… if its 2 cents or less you round down…. so it works out to be even… on your average purchase sometimes youll lose 2 cents… sometimes youll gain 2 cents… so overall it works out….. i will say tho a lot of people here especially senior folks who still saw a penny as being a decent amount of money were pissed at first… but the round up/down system works quite well… overall its even and saves everyone from having to lug around 10lbs of pennies… i actually found it to be much better without pennies
