My doctor wants me to lower my Risperdal dose further

Because of worsening TD symptoms my psychiatrist wants me to lower my Risperdal dose from 2.5mg to 2mg.

He also wants to see me in person and he said that he may switch me off of Risperdal onto a different AP.

He also mentioned something I’m finding to be strange.

He said that Seroquel doesn’t control psychosis.

At higher doses it does

Buddy,I’m sorry for TD on Risperdal,you’ve been on that med for a long time.Tell him how is your experience with other AP’s.I’m sure you can find something else …

Yes its true.you need minimum 800mg for control pschosis which is insane doses.some doctors prescribe 2400 mg insane.total insane doses

I have heard some doctors argue meds don’t really touch paranoia as much as some other psychosis symptoms.

But have never heard that seroquel (above 250mg) doesn’t treat psychosis.

That sounds a bit odd

Yeah it does sound odd, maybe he thinks it doesn’t make a strong antipsychotic?

Maybe he got confused with the concept that below 250mg it isn’t supposed to have an antipsychotic effect?

i was on the lowest dosage seroquel for psychosis which was 300mg, everything under that like 100mg is for sleep iirc. possibly mania.

That’s great news! When I tried a higher dose of risperidone (2 mg instead of my current 1 mg) my head started bobbing up and down, I immediately switched back to 1 mg with no problems. I also take 20 mg of olanzapine

If I get TD I’m not gonna do anything about it because whenever I lower my invega in end up in the hospital it’s impossible to switch off of
