My ocd is driving me and my husband insane

Its completely taken over my thoughts at this point, and i cant enjoy my time with him because i have all these bad thoughts sbout me or him and every day i ask for reassurance. My past mistakes and bad behavior haunt me i guess. Im not like that anymore, i was a kid. I cant even think straight and im constantly analyzing everything, every interaction, every thought, every word i say or others, i feel like im constantly walking on eggshells around others and even myself. I cant tell if its denial or ocd, i know that can be ocd though.

I had bad ocd intrusive thoughts on rexulti… seem to be gone now but they did come and go before. The intrusives got to be mainly neurochemistry…

Did you start a new medication recently that could be the cause ?

If so,talk to your doctor

If you didn’t really change something recently maybe you could ask to do a therapy about that

What usually helps you when it happens ?

Hey moon…

I was on latuda and had OCD. I switched to abilify and luvox and it’s a little better. My OCD is exactly as you described. Only thing that’s helped is luvox and acceptance.

Hope you figure it out … Also..hope everything else is ok.

Psychotherapy with my psychiatrist over the past 10 years helped me immensely to come at peace with the wrongs of my past.

On meds my OCD is more prevalent than my bipolar disorder.

I know how difficult it can be @moon

Hang in there

I’m sorry you are dealing with this.

I had ocd in the past but the ocd thoughts don’t bother me anymore.

You can beat it and come through to the other side stronger.

It takes time but you have to learn and understand that fear isnt helpful. I know it seems like if you wontfear you will lose control and do stupid stuff, but you should learn to trust yourself. You dont have to walk on eggshells. I know how it is because i struggle with huge anxiety too but im on the good path so im telling you what helped me. See, everytime you pick a way of thinking, the thoughts ur interacting with, etc. - it is becoming the default path for your brain, and you are way more likely to choose the same one in the future. Thats how habits work right. But thats also how neuronal pathways work - neuroplasticity. So when you interact with thoughts about you being an awful person, they will come back even more frequently becaue some neuronal pathways connections strongened there. If you choose not to trust yourself, you will think you are incapable of doing anything, fear thoughts will eat you up because you „let them” or „choose them”. I know it sounds harsh but our way of thinking CAN be changed. It takes time but the key is to not interact with anxiety thoughts. Look how other people function. They dont need to be telling themselves that they do everything wrong and that this is not right and that is not right. No. They just live. Sometimes they are in a very difficult situation and they just brush it off. Then it turns out thay the situation wasnt so serious and everything turned out okay on its own. Sometimes you just have to trust the Universe to guide you because you wont have control over everything either way.

Try to see which thoughts are CAUSED by FEAR and not respond to them! Dont interact. Slowly ur neuronal pathways will start to choose some other way, i hope more positive one! interact only with positive thoughts. Try to make them the default ones. I do this and its working slowly:P but i already see the results!

Good luck!<3

My best advice, coming from a guy who is suffering from Pure O OCD, and it runs in my family as all my siblings have it and my dad, get on a SSRI and try to manually focus your thoughts on what you want. Not what is controlling you.

OCD is a fear based disorder, which really just maximizes the innate fear in all of us. Humans are controlled by fear. We see that in the news, health supplements, and some religious practices. But, if you understand what humans fear, then you can grasp onto the reality of your way out.

Humans are afraid of what they don’t understand. It’s not the only fear, but by and large, we could fix a lot of our fear by understanding, perspective, knowledge, and intelligence. Just as we are all afraid of the unknown, so does OCD take that aspect of us, and multiply it by a large degree.

I struggle with this issue everyday. Everyday I’m plauged by my own hellscape that is inaugurated by my disorder. The thoughts, the rumination, the compulsory rituals, all affect me similarly, but what we gotta do, is to understand each other, understand how our mind operates, and see with eyes open the knowledge we as OCD sufferers are missing, which is the future. Not saying we can see the future, but we can get a good guess.
