I’m sorry, didn’t want to call schizo affective folks less suffering than schizophrenics..
Fact is,I only associate with schizophrenics, and know their suffering…
Today I called old friend to see how he is,he is on haldol injections they obviously don’t have any impact on he’s state of mind..
He told me yesterday word salad, and I tried to listen.
Got only one friend, who I met in hospital, who is schizo affective and he works full time job,and before hospital he had oral haldol as med.He couldn’t think at all and had no concentration..
Then he was placed on Zyprexa, and it did wonders..
I was on all meds, including haldol and risperidon and it did something, but that were only temporary meds,my med among rest is Clozapine..
Its ok @anon68822644 I was confused and yeah it depends on the person someone with schizophrenia might have it better or worse depends on the person and weather the person had a early intervention less substance use stuff like that
I had a gene sight test. All it showed really was which meds I metabolize in different ways. I’m a rapid metabolizer (new word crafted) of Geodon which is why it wears off so fast.
I’ve been on caplyta for about a year and a half. I like it. No sedation. No side effects. Occasionally I get a little shake in my leg, but that’s it. I’m able to do things on this med. I also take geodon and that’s non sedating.
Same. Part of a research project. I get invited to a lot because I’ve become known as a high-functioning oddity. The main thing I got from it is that I have a “redheat” gene that explains why local anesthetic barely works on me.
I’ll be on the medication till the end of my time I reckon. I do want to try going off, but I think by now - I can’t do without it. Not even with a supervised tapering.
