It turns out I have to get a deep cleaning done. I was so scared when they offered to start today I asked to schedule it for March. How bad is it? Does the shot hurt in your gums? Anyone have this done before?

the shot doesn’t even barely hurt…just a slight sting…like taking a blood sample at the doctor but in your mouth…you’ll be fine.

I always don’t take anesthetic, but she asks me do you wanna pause after some time.

The anesthetic shot does not hurt at all. It’s not that bad. Don’t worry

Most dentists will numb the area they are going to give the shot of novacain with a Q-tip dipped in some kind of liquid anesthesia. They rub it on your gums and wait about a minute and it numbs it so the shot doesn’t hurt. You’ll feel it but it’s not too bad. After they shoot you up with novacain they start scraping but you’ll barely feel it. They scrape for like 15-25 minutes. It’s not too bad I just had it done about 1 1/2 months ago. It works good, before the deep cleaning my gums bled every time I brushed, now, there’s zero blood.
