something to ask my dr - anyone else know about this?

in the past I was diagnosed with sza bipolar type but now drs wrote it up as depressive type. I’m confused about it because I take mood stabilizer and not antidepressant. I get high moods but they don’t qualify for hypomanic episode because they only last a few hours and have psychosis features which hypomania doesn’t have. is it a feature of sz to get these short high moods with psychosis? or is it due to my borderline traits?

I don’t know where those high short moods fit in. it’s not classical bipolar hypomania so what is it? do I then have depressive type sza after all? because only my depression qualifies for major mood episode. not my highs.

does anyone have any idea or opinions about this?

If I am understanding it correctly if you have psychosis during a hypomanic episode then it might likely be sza, because psychosis is not part of bp2.

Yes I do have sza but what I was confused about was if it was the bipolar or depressive type. The drs originally seemed to think it was the bipolar type but two years ago they changed it to sza depressive type.

Exactly. I had delusions of grandeur in my hypomania so it’s called mania, according to my pdoc

We really can’t diagnose you here. The technicalities of the diagnosis of your drs. are best left to your doctors. THis is a question for them.

Honestly it doesn’t matter as long as you are on the the right meds
