TMI sorry! Bowel Purge

So I went 17 days without a bowel movement. As a result, my gastroenterologist is having me do a bowel purge (same as a bowel prep before a colonoscopy). I just started. I hope it’s not too awful.

Has anyone else had to do a bowel purge due to severe constipation?

Yes, they filled my colon with liquids and I had to sh-it it out. It wasn’t too bad.

Not exactly. But due to a genetic mutation I carry for colon cancer I have had a colonoscopy every year for like 13 years. These days I have to do a double prep. If you have specific questions I’d be glad to try to help.

I think bc I’ve had so many colonoscopiesand and they have to be sure everything is easy to see so they can tell if I have cancer. My brother died from cancer at age 39…my mom got colon cancer and uterine cancer but thank goodness she is ok. My uncle has colon cancer and my grandfather died from colon cancer. So sorry if that’s a complicated question.

I have not had to do a bowel purge but, I had bad constipation as it’s a symptom of Clozapine and I took Semaglutide (Ozempic), as well, which worsens constipation due to slowing stomach emptying. I’m trying coffee to get the bowels going. Constipation sucks, sorry

I swear by colace and fiber powder (in my water, which I drink a lot of). Otherwise, I think I’d be in the same situation. I’m sorry you are going through this. It’s not exactly an ideal Saturday night.
