What do you think will happen in the future?

I hear you. From whatever end of the political spectrum one tends to come from, it doesn’t look too great.

And let’s be honest, where America leads…

No politics please.

Fair enough.

I wasn’t trying to be political, for what it’s worth, and am actually a firm believer in trying to meet in the centre.

But I’ll leave it at that.

But also, for what it’s worth, I do always hold onto hope, and believe in the goodness and desire to survive that we all have.

Peace

I think in the future due to AI and technology that everyone will be a carbon copy. The same patterns of thought dictated by machines repeating themselves. The same advice for relationships. Machines will replace human relations. Everyone will think alike after this last generation. The same crappy economy over and over. Everyone limited to a handful of habits. The love of money. The death of youthful idealism due to the internets oversaturation of everything money. The same haircuts. I think we’re almost there now.

May I say there will be some very very major world conflicts. I’ll not go into any details not to worry the members.

Nowadays I like to think that there is kind of spectrum of possible futures. On the one end is this pseudo-religious concept of singularity some people like to believe, like a modern day pseudo-secular rapture of sorts. In some sense this could turn out to be a radical age of abundance, which I think is hard to believe. And the development of AI and technology could turn humans obsolete. On the other hand it could turn out just as well that the various global challenges facing human race will seriously undermine any such grand developments anyway. Like environmental destruction and over-consumption. But still anyway I would like to believe that we live interesting times anyway when all is said and done. I just find it hard to believe that any optimistic future will concern me personally, mainly I believe that the rich and the powerful will mainly benefit from all the wonders awaiting tomorrow. At best I hope, perhaps naively, that modern medicine will be more advanced addressing this condition than what is is today.

How much more of an optimist than that. I don’t like using the term singularity personally. I don’t like Ray kurzweil

Future is beyond imagination.

Just as people of the past couldn’t predict what happens today, so we too.

Some #### will figure out how to remotely manipulate matter into anti-matter and look out. (I’m sure you’ve read Moving Mars by Greg Bear?)

I do think about the ocean a lot in general.

  • More aggressive and hearty (?) whales/sea life that can protect or save the ocean. Trees evolving with serious fire resistance. Dramatic nature things.
  • Red dirty or toxic air everywhere that people are, like in Blade Runner. And I hope we don’t have to wear masks to go outside every day.
  • Japan levels up the stakes about being owed a trillion-plus dollars by the US, and maybe they start implementing. territories or rules here or something. Unless it would be better in ways, but I haven’t thought that out yet.
  • The Long Walk and Squid Games type of competitions (real and on tv and streaming) showing desperate people dying on TV shows. That would be too de-sensitizing and sad.
  • Ocean discoveries that lead to feeding a lot of people or big awesome medical benefits (that people will want to actually try or eat, because no one wants to try sea moss gel with me and I get it)

Bad actors use AI to make super bug.

Everyone dies.

The end

Hey, none of that here Jim Bob

But it’s agreed that bioweapons are an enormous problem with ai around

I just don’t want to speculate on the nature of the advancement of bioweapons without having a degree in the subject
