What fitness/smart watch do you have?

I’ve been an Apple person since I was a young kid. However one thing that I’m slowly liking less and less is my Apple Watch. I had the Apple Watch 4 since 2019 then it finally died on me last spring of 2024 so my parents bought me a new Apple Watch SE second generation. It was good at first but already 1 1/2 years later the battery life sucks. It won’t even make it through the whole day.

I’m now switching to the Garmin Forerunner 265 because I am looking for more exercise and fitness tracking. Bonus is it has up to a 11 day battery life now that is on the upper end of the estimate. Real people say it lasts 5-6 days with regular training sessions and screen use. So much better than my Apple Watch that will only hold a charge for 10 hours

So open to your experiences. What’s your favorite smart watch/ or fitness tracker you use?

I ditched my smart watch. I had an expensive Samsung Gear and then I realized S$25 TEMU watch was almost as good. The constant notifications got to me so I downgraded to a plain old digital watch and a wearable pedometer. Much happier now.

I feel that. Some days I wish I was less connected. But in the end if I want to reach my fitness goals the Garmin will be helpful. And I plan to turn off phone notifications so I don’t get texts or other notifications coming through. Sometimes it’s good to disconnect

I’m tracking mine in a spreadsheet with AI assisting. More comprehensive.

i asked copilot about it

:brain: 4. Do all smartwatches degrade fast?

Here’s the real hierarchy:

Brand Typical Battery Life Degradation Speed Why
Apple Watch 1 day Fast Heavy OS, small battery
Samsung Galaxy Watch 1–2 days Fast Similar reasons
Garmin 5–14 days Slow Low‑power OS
Amazfit 7–14 days Slow Efficient hardware
Xiaomi/Redmi 7–20 days Slow–Medium Depends on firmware

So no — they don’t all degrade quickly. It’s mostly Apple and Samsung that burn through batteries.

Yes your AI analysis is spot on. The Apple Watch battery deteriorates super fast
