Thinking of buying the new fitbit air since I am jogging lately
But one problem I have with it is worrying too much about every little precise detail of every bodily function
Maybe i shouldnt buy it

I think if you are over obsessive that’s actually probably a good option because you don’t have a screen and can only check your stats on your phone. I use a Garmin Forerunner 265 and I do obsess a bit over the information on it but it has a big screen right on my wrist. But don’t get me wrong I love the info
Yeah I loved it too, but I did find the screen annoying to navigate menus and in the shower it would go crazy.
I prolly will end up getting it, but I hope I dont start worrying over sleep and my resting heart rate again.
I think it’s just a tool. You can pay attention to your sleep and resting heart rate without getting too worried about it. Just think of it like data but not the be all end all. Go based on how you feel. Sometimes I barely get sleep and I feel better than on nights I get 9+ hours.
Thats true about sleep being a purely subjective thing ie how you feel rather than measurable by science…
I guess im a little naive when it comes to flashy graphs and sensors.
I actually smashed my last one a fitbut 5 or something back in 2022 because i was paranoid of it for various reasons.
That’s completely valid.
I hope if you do get it you use it wisely for information.
I love the info my watch gives me based on my training/exercising and fitness level but ultimately if I was just looking at the data I’d get discouraged, I try to keep in mind real life and that not everything is going to show up on a fitness watch.
Build healthy habits and use the watch/fitness tracker to help with that
Thats what its good for I think, to focus on healthy lifestyle.
I was doing a lot of exercise just for the watch’s feedback.
One thing that really discouraged me was one of the heart metrics vo2 max or something related to that which put me in the average fitness category when prior to being on meds i was well above average. The watch kind of caused negativity to some extent.
I get that. My current VO2 max is really low like in the low 30s which is not good for my age. But I’ve felt improved in how fast and how far I can run regardless if that number is moving or not
The other thing was heart rate variability was low or something on invega. I was having palpitations at the time and the watch was stressing me out .
Again it’s just data. When I take beta blockers my heart rate variability gets way better but it’s just medication induced.
Thanks. Youre much more level headed in interpreting it than I am. I guess I look at it as super objective or something and my own critical mind has no power against it.
