What if you have a fixed belief?

I guess you can’t talk about fixed beliefs here?

‘fixed’ being the optimum word.

its ironic because the word also means to be fixed ‘to fix’ but it is the opposite of what I mean. hell maybe you can ‘fix’ someone.

This is a good source for people if they want to know how a person should be treated if they have symptoms including delusional beliefs, it seems a lot more humane to listen and be supportive-

I have a fixed belief that I can’t talk about, either.

I get it, its because we are only allowed to talk about it in a recovery oriented way, I would say talking about it is recovery orientated, to share something you believe and get feedback, even swapping stories about delusions that have come and gone can help make light of those situations.

I think the problem is that the rules were written because the powers at the time thought people were feeding others delusions or encouraging them. (& I would like to see the proof of this)

members understand how delusions work, people with insight can guide people who express fixed beliefs, peer supporting others.

How to deal with delusions in a one on one or family setting is a different animal than when dealing with a group that is entirely sz or sza.

I am confident this about your thread a mod closed so I will try to address both this post and the source of your frustration, the closed thread.

The moderators operated on their best judgement according to the rules as they are written. These are mostly the rules as written on the old forum.

Changing the rules is a risky proposition because we do not want to take the chance of making anyone worse by making bad decisions there.

In a group setting like this, I do indeed believe, that schizophrenics can feed off others delusions and make others worse.

You could make the case that allowing delusional discussion when the initial poster is convinced of a delusion COULD theoretically help the person, but I think you will find that most people that are fixed deep in delusions are immovable.

There are some people that are kind of at a point where they “sort of” believe delusions than can sometimes be helped by out talk here. These are most likely to be the ones helped by this kind of discussion, I think.

Remember, this is a schizophrenia recovery/support forum. It often does not lend itself as well to those actively in psychosis as it does those in recovery.

Also remember that we are not professionals. This place is exclusively for those that have or have had a psychotic disorder or psychosis.

We are doing our best here to help and offer community without causing additional harm by creating a place for delusions to flourish.

I believe the method of the article you posted does not fully apply to a community of sz and sza.

Its good to support and gain trust, yes…but I think its also important to not offer validity to delusions.

Anyway. We are all doing our best here.

I would also like to say, that I have been on message boards/forums that are free for alls in that regard when I was at kind of a “mid-way” point in regards to “sanity” and they did indeed trigger me and make me worse whereas the old forum was relatively safe and non triggering.

So we need to be very careful about making those kind of changes here. We have tried to make this forum a little more liberal and user friendly where we could. But changing the core of some of the rules risks making us like some of those other sites.

I have problems with old psychoses as things were undeniable and facts to me

I know what I experienced and why people don’t like it

But I will patiently wait until the time comes and those who did not listen to me will understand

Meds helped some of my fixed beliefs become pseudo-fixed. Still have some but don’t like to talk about it.
