Thanks, but it didn’t really translate into a great job cuz there was a recession when I graduated and I started experiencing the beginning of my sz symptoms around then.

What did you study? What were your favorite classes in high school?

I wanted to teach so I studied English and Child Psychology. My favorite class was Biology 101 though. I probably picked the wrong major.

Oh I’m sorry that was college you said high school. In high school I loved English. Especially creative writing.

What were your favorite English courses?

What were your favorite books that you read?

My favorite course was a creative writing workshop in college where we each got to write a short story and we’d put our desks in a circle, after having read one person’s story the night before, and all go around and offer our critiques of the story. There was enough time in the semester for each person to write two stories. I loved that course.

My favorite book that we read was the Narrative of Gordon Arthur Pym. It’s a novella by Edgar Allan Poe about a ship crew who falls on misfortune and has to resort to cannibalism.

Did you go to college? I never finished my four year degree, just my two year degree. Dropped out my third year due to schizophrenia related problems.

I don’t know what GPA is, we don’t have it in nz. But I was an average student, won a couple of certificates for dilligence and merit in art. Art was my favourite subject. If only I could recreate the passion that I once had for art, i’d be flying.

What was your fav subject?

Grade Point Average, you get it from totaling your grades for each class and dividing by the number of classes.

In the USA 1.0 is a D, 2.0 is a C, 3.0 is a B, 4.0 is a perfect A, there are in betweens as well

I suck at art, wish I was better at it. Not bad at creative writing though. I should give it a shot again some time.

My old art teacher would say it’s not about skill but rather expression though.

Graduated highschool with a B

Graduated from a 2 year college program with honours.

Never graduated from university but most of my credits are As and Bs except for the last ones I took where I was sick

Graduated from trade school with a B I think.

Yes I went to college. I went to Oberlin in Ohio

My high school was so competitive that I found college to be. I don’t know. Not terribly challenging and in the context of my alcoholism I just didn’t focus

I also had no concept of why I was in college other than the fact that I was supplying my parents with what they had required of me

I had no vision of the future or a goal

In retrospect, I did learn some things

I spend a lot of time in the library. Ripping DVDs from various art House films. I was really into Peter Greenaway for example. I loved his TV show. Dante’s inferno.

B’s and C’s in high school – which meant I couldn’t really get into any great colleges/universities

Went to a state university, and basically flunked out. Stopped going to classes cause I was paranoid/in my prodromal phase. Honestly, I think my first semester GPA in college was like a 2.3. I was miserable. All I got outta college was a drinking problem and student debt

That sounds great!

I went to GMU for my third year, but did my first two at Northern Virginia Community College. It wasn’t that I couldn’t get into GMU, it was that I applied late and missed the cutoff, and they accepted me but said I had to do my first semester at NVCC. After one semester though I loved it so much I stayed the whole 2 first years of my 4 year degree. I think I enjoyed being a big fish in a small pond.

is GMU = George Mason University?

I’m sorry man.

You seem like a really cool guy. I think you would really benefit from going back to school.
