Centipedes - and other issues

Shortly after it got warm again, we are having a centipede problem.

I used to think they were millipedes , but after researching a bit it seems based on their primary habitat(in the basement of the house), it seems more likely they are centipedes.

We mostly ocassionally see one in the basement here and there, but I have now seen 3 in the stairway to outside and the main level of the house.

They are creepy as hell to me and , acording to the internet have a venomous bite that paralizes their victims.

Now this wont do much to humans or large animals, given their size, but its still creepy.

Now of course, you can say “hire an exterminator”. This is obviously a solution, but we have so many issues with the house atm that we will go broke if we hire people to solve every issue we have.

For example, dog trainer to address skyes issues, New windows because AC units are warping the bottom of the windows from the weight, woould be nice to have central air, we need a sump pump, and on and on the list goes.

We have fixed many many issues with this house and bought a car recently but we have more issues than our bank account can afford to contract out.

So probably no exterminator at the current time.

Thanks for reading.

Yeah I’ve got to do so many things with my house right now but to be honest I just can’t afford it for the time being.

I need the carpets cleaned

My lamppost in the front of the house needs to be replaced and I’d like some of the rooms to be repainted.

These are just a few things that I can think of right now, there’s more stuff that needs to be done

Maybe you could get insect poision and place it in the basement.

I remember using glue traps with bait on small insects where I lived before. It was highly efficient, but maybe centipedes are too big to get stuck in the glue, you may need some bait that kills them.

That’s a heck of a lot going on. I’m sorry you are dealing with all of this. Hang in there. One thing at a time. We get some of the centipedes too, specifically the ones noted as house centipedes. They creep me out so bad! We’ve never had an exterminator for them. We just find bug spray that includes centipedes and spray ourselves. Much cheaper.

Are you talking about house centipedes? Those creatures are harmless to humans and catch all the bad bugs. BUT if there is too many of them, you might need to use some non-toxic solution (you can find these in local stores) and try to eliminate them. If you’re talking about the long centipedes, buy the same solution because they can be harmful.

I hope you can get some peace of mind. Regardless of what kind of bugs they are, they are scary!

Bowens, I understand your stress but you need to be very cautious that you don’t get turned into a HUMAN CENTIPEDE.
