Just curious as to how this community will handle family members and friends looking for support with the SZs in their life? Their main community is shutting down in just over a week and I’m sure a few will end up here. I’ve got no interest in interacting with them, but it will likely be a problem.

I’ll let @SzSupportAdmin speak for himself, but I believe this is a strict psychosis peer site only.
From what I’ve seen that’s a firm line in the sand.

It wouldn’t be good. I’ve seen a few members go over to the family and friends site and it doesn’t go too well.
The family and friends are looking for answers and support that we can’t give, and this forum would turn into chaos between people with the condition looking for support and people who are looking for answers for their loved ones.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of those with psychosis disorders, but this is not the right forum for their needs, and we need to be able to interact as peers here.

I don’t like the idea either. Many can’t empathise* with the other side, both us and them - so it’ll become an angry hoard to manage and eventually the site will just be closed I feel

The old forum had a family category.
This didn’t work out, so it was split out into a separate forum/website entirely.
I hope we’re not going back to basically having a family category again. That would be quite grim.

It’s too bad, but theres not much we can do about it. We cant afford to support a separate discourse. I sure as heck dont want to admin a second.
If it is that vital to them, they are going to have to do what we did, or just move to another site.
I thought szadmin said there were not that many people there anyway.
