I had a cheat day. And a pizza one night (didn’t go over cal. That day)
Why do you guys think I gained weight after successfully counting my calories
I lost 4lbs the first week.

water retention, muscle gain, poop etc
Losing weight is so complicated and hard.
You have to take into account so many factors. SOme of which @Schizbro mentioned. If you do it wrong your body goes into starvation mode and you can gain fat and lose muscle. etc.
So I wont bother giving advice. I have been trying off and on for years to lose weight. My insulin and diabetes makes it that much harder.
Pizza is high in salt, and likely so was the food on your cheat day. It’s likely water weight. Drink extra water to flush out the salt and eat lower sodium foods and within a couple days it should go back
Maybe water retention and not exercising
Salt hit, water retention, possible inflammation from crap food as well.
I think I’m gonna do zero cheat days and watch out for salt
I still have the occasional one, but I am careful not to reward good food behaviour with bad food behaviour. It undoes the changes I am going for. If I have a cheat day it’s to do something special with family or a friend. Even then I try for a small portion of the cheat and to crowd my plate with healthier things so I don’t get sick after.
its tempting to weigh every few days. but not reliable. once you are certain your calories are accurate, forget the scale for a while, just focus on other things and keep the calories right, thinking about weight loss and progress too often is counterproductive, for me at least. its gotta be something where the changes in calorie consumption are so ingrained into routine that you will do it daily, it takes a lot of time for progress to show but the goal is to make it a lifelong habit
I weigh at 8:30 am every day before having food or fluids. Charting over time smooths bumps. I am in the habit of a daily weigh-in because if I don’t then I find reasons to skip and more reasons to skip. For like a LONG time. That is how I went from 213 lbs in 2013 to over 365 lbs in 2020 (I stopped weighing at 365).
That is never happening to me again. I’d sooner die.
What do you drink and how much milk?
Because i can easily consume 4 pints of milk a day in tea and thats 1200 calories right there
Man ive started diet today gonna stop drinking as much tea mainly, because i eat pretty healthy apart from the milk ugh
I drink mostly water, no milk, occasional juice
I drink chilled tap water
I drink water, carbonated water with fresh lime or fruit, green tea, or herbal tea. I don’t add sweetener or milk to my tea. I almost never drink milk.
When you we’re fat what did you drink then? @shutterbug
Im fat whoa very but eat ok. Think its the 1200 calories in milky tea im drinking?
Lots of dairy, cheese. Lots of diet soda. Ate tonnes of white carbs, pasta. Lots of prepared foods. Lots of baked goods. Lots of snack foods (crisps, candies, chocolates). Lots of fast food and deep fried foods. Huge portions. Very little in the way of fresh fruit or vegetables.
I eat very little, nothing like that.
I reckon cutting down to 4 cups of tea day should make it easier to lose the weight
Its easier to exercise in warmer weather but i will try walking more
Btw congrats on your huge weight loss! ![]()
weight loss is not perfectly linear especially when youre considering water levels fluxtuating in the body etc. its like driving down the road.. the road is generally pretty straight but its not gonna be 100% perfect. theres fluxuations of 1-2 pounds sometimes more if youre heavier
i weigh in regularly but im not concerned when i notice a few lbs change over the course of days. sometimes weight is higher after a week, then another week lower than the original low that the first higher weight week was. i think it depends on how you use the weigh ins and what stage of the journey. i look for a downward trend but not linear daily loss, as i can gain 2 lbs in 1 minute right now if im thirsty enough to drink 2 bottles of water
Oh yeah. I also chug water. I don’t see the point of weighing multiple times a day, but I feel a daily weigh is a good habit.
