I’ve been feeling increasingly like I’m on the edge of relapsing with my ED. The scarce food situation is somehow triggering me to eat less and less. I’m starting to see the pounds drop and that gives me a euphoric feeling. I’m very overweight I need to lose around 100 pounds. I’m just concerned because normally a warning sign for me is restricting food and then going out of control binging then purging.
I will of course discuss this with my dietician and my therapist. I’m just concerned because I’m finally starting to lose weight again and I don’t want it to trigger my ED again.
Not having money for food and not being able to eat what I normally would is throwing me off. I get stuck into the same patterns with my eating. I tend to eat the same thing every day for breakfast and lunch then I rotate a few dinners. I normally meal prep for my dinners so I eat the same thing for 4 or 5 days then switch it up.
I just feel off. I can feel myself obsessing over the number on the scale again and it scares me.

Do you deal with an eating disorder too @Schizbro?

No fortunately. I just find it difficult to select healthy food, gain weight easy now, and need to reduce spending.

Yeah I have limited food choices because I don’t have money for groceries and really rely on food boxes for most of my food. Sometimes they come with sweets or baked goods and I have a hard time controlling myself around those higher calorie items.

I also have a history of ED…i gained a bunch of weight going on clozapine and almost started the binge-purge behaviors. I’ve found that donating trigger foods (candy, cookies, etc) to neighbors helped remove tempting items and doing a daily food diary to make sure I was getting at least the minimum amount of calories my doctor said I need. I also utilize the local food bank’s “food is medicine” program to get free fruits and veggies. I hope that helps!
