So I was super tight on money this month. So tight in fact that $8 a week to do laundry was taking too much money away from my grocery budget. So what did I do? I started hand washing my clothes. Shirts and shorts, underwear and socks. I mastered quite the technique in my bathroom sink cleaning one piece of clothing at a time.
Then I live on the second floor so I hang them to dry on my balcony fence. I hang my socks and bras inside cause I don’t want them to fall off if a little wind comes their way. Now two days ago they started construction on the 2nd floor walkway right above the laundry room so now I don’t even have access to a laundry room unless I want to walk across the property to the other laundry room but it’s a hassle.
So I guess that being said I’m now handwashing and line drying all my laundry, I don’t mind it. Saves me $32 a month.
Yep. You don’t have to have a machine do it. Stains can be tricky, but if you dont have any the main thing is to just get the odor out. Ive washed clothes by hand before and it works, but very laborious.
I agree it is difficult, and tedious. But I do it every day so I’m only ever washing a shirt or two maybe three if I worked out and slept in another shirt.
If you have a bucket with a tight fitting lid you can put your clothes in it with water and detergent and shake it. A washing machine doesnt do much more.
I’ve had to hand wash clothes before. The only thing I don’t like to hand wash is jeans. My hands get so tired while scrubbing them! Good job for putting forth so much effort!
Oh yes I know what you mean @Lilyofthevalley i don’t wear jeans I’m mostly in either skirts, shorts or exercise leggings all of which are easy to wash in the sink thankfully
