I want to ask my friend out again

Me and my friend live 3,000 miles apart well on opposite sides of the country. He lives on the West Coast, and I live on the East Coast. He said he was kind of confused about long distance the last time we dated and just wanted my company so I took it as a sign that he wasn’t interested in me like that. I’ve also gotten out of a relationship in the past where my ex fiance engaged me and then broke it off to then get married to his daughter’s mom 5 months later so there’s that. But he keeps talking about this other girl who doesn’t even sound like she likes him and I don’t want to deal with the drama of that so I guess I’m kind of stuck. I kind of tried to bring up some topics in conversation that were focused around that to gauge* where he was but ended up feeling drained. The relationship was a queen platonic relationship so friends but a little bit more.

Yeah I thought so too lol but he said he didn’t feel the same way and that he was in love with this girl romantically. Then proceeded to talk heavily about her so I just kind of set a boundary that we could still be friends but not talk about that because he went on a literal rant about it lol I think he said there was alot to unpack and I said maybe talk to his therapist about it.

3000 miles apart. Hung up on some other person… too many red flags.
