Well, in not too distant future there could be three drugs which more or less treat negative symptoms. One is Evenamide which is claimed to act on symptoms in general and the effect supposedly compounds over time. It acts on glutamate indirectly and calms down over excitable neurons mainly on hippocampus if I understood it correctly. There were anecdotes regarding it claiming it was pretty effective overall, quarter of treatment resistant test subjects went even to remission. And it is supposedly light on side-effects. Then there is Tazbentetol/spg-302 which is supposed to regenerate lost synapses and it also acts on wide symptom spectrum, possibly in a manner which would repair damage in part or in full thus possibly allowing freedom from meds altogether eventually. And it also is relatively benign side-effect wise. Lastly there is Roluperidone which is a bit of a question mark since it failed phase three study. But in any case it is meant to treat negative symptoms mainly if it turns out to be effective after all. It is claimed to alleviate avolition mainly and help with motivation. So, quite a lot new stuff coming up which operate unlike the present drugs and with hopefully overall better safety, tolerability and overall effectiveness. :pill:

I remember you saying you took amisulpride at one stage. Doesn’t that help with negatives? I’m taking 400mg of it and I find it helpful.

My negatives are much better without doing anything

I don’t want to crush anyone’s dreams. But the drugs of the future will have very modest effects on negative and cognitive symptoms. If you ask any large-language model if any of the drugs of today affect on primary negative symptoms. It will list out Carpiprazine(Vraylar) and Amisulpride <300 mg. And those have very sparsely effect on negatives. I could choose to lie to you about this but mostly I tell the truth to save people from big disappointments.

Well. What can be done. The development of antipsychotics that target all of the psychotic symptoms more precisely without causing side effects and long term damages to the body.

I tried lots of the modern meds but found those to be too weak to treat my psychosis sufficiently. I didn’t find any of those treatment in any way bettered negative symptoms or cognition. But I found one of the only new drugs I liked 15 years ago and that was Seroquel\ Quetiapine.

So now I’m on 200 mg Clopixol depot every other weeks. For psychosis.

2 pills of akineton each day for side effects of the depot.

800 mg Qutiapine split in 3 doses for mood, psychosis, anxiety and sleep

And that helps at a cost of US $.50

I admit I want to grasp some straws and be optimistic of the future drugs and treatments. I just want to have some naive hope instead of hopelessness, it is not fun. But I guess I get the scepticism since up to this point the drugs have been pretty harsh overall. And ad a side note of course there is the supplement route, those could help a little bit with the symptoms.

Dear Kali it’s really not to take your hope for the future but if you noted that I said primary negative symptoms( negative symptoms from the illness). What I didn’t mention was the secondary negative symptoms that are a result of the Dopamine blocking effect of antipsychotics-depression and EPS. You see Cobenfy does not block dopamine receptors and that’s already a big win and the result is more emotions and motivation to many users. So when we find a way to treat psychosis in the same way or other none dopaminergic ways well cure the negative symptoms caused by antipsychotics.

Well still a bright future to the young ones. I just wanted you to know this. My life time is set to 59 years so I’m coming to late for the future and most of my friends are death Now.

Brain training with brainHQ and coffee help my negative symptoms. BrainHQ has been shown to help with sz negative symptoms.

When I’m feeling too crappy I get some caffeine. It’s not a medication, but it helps. I feel taking vitamins help too.
