What's happening in the medication landscape?

Anyone following any new medications that are gonna be released in the future? Are there any hope for medications that don’t make you feel like sh!t?

And what happened with that one, “cobenfy” was it?, and there was another one I don’t remember the name of. They were supposed to be promising, acting on something other than dopamine.

I’ve heard about cobenfy. But I’m not very aware of the new meds.

I guess there is Evenamide which is claimed to treat the disease across the board, it acts at hippocampus and works through neuronal sodium channels and glutamate. It supposedly tones down over excitable neurons and alleviates symptoms. There were some anecdotal hearsay from users of this drug and it seemed quite effective. The drug is currently undergoing phase three testing, results are expected next year. Then there is spg-302 or Tazbentetol which supposedly regenerates lost synapses lost due to the disease. The research is not as far along and the mechanism of action sounds riskier. Although it could be cool to try to cure, instead of manage, this illness. Roluperidone is another drug researched and it is supposed to help with negative symptoms, the effect just wasn’t robust enough for FDA last time around. They are retesting it as of now. Ulotaront was interesting as a drug too, but testing of it did not demonstrate robust effect on symptoms so it is bit of a mystery what happened to that compound. So, a lot of non-dopaminergic promising drugs on the pipeline. :pill:

Quite a list you have there, I wonder which of these drugs will turn out to be useful. If even a few are eventually in the market and reasonably available, that would be something all right. As a side note, Naben is really Sodium benzoate in disguise. And, well, supplements help at least a little bit while we wait for better treatment options.

Yes I agree with your opinions that It seems that big Pharma companies just want to make money out of os with these scz conditions. It seems to me that most of the antipsychotics 1. 2. 3. Gen antipsychotics only treat the positive symptoms but do little good for the negative symptom or cognition. Of course we should appreciate that big Pharma companies investigate how to remove side effects. That’s the only win we can expect. But the cost of new novel drugs like Cobenfy is to totally crazy like US $ 22,000 per year. That really insane and exploitation of people with our conditions

ALTHOUGH i dont agree with big pharma i do think there are good scientists out there and good science which shows meds work, whether the business side of things is morally right or wrong

Ingrezza is not an antipsychotic, it is a medication for tardive dyskinesia. Austedo is also for tardive dyskinesia. I take it.

I wish they would look at more natural remedies. Take stuff from nature; without isolating the chemicals, and use it.
