It's easy to be generous when you have spare money

I used to be to charities….”sure you need some money here”….:money_with_wings:

Nowadays our budget is so tight my wife brings up her relatives birthdays and I be like….”great, another 20 dollars out the door.”

“What, you want to give another 20 at church?”

It’s like, we are the poor, why the heck are we giving away our money?(ok, so we arent super poor, we have reserves , but when you’re working with a budget in the red and shrinking savings, it does not seem to be making a lot of sense.)

I went ot the Pharmacy and my pen needles for insulin were 70 dollars. I mean, not even the insulin….just the needles.

I guess thats how they get you on the insulin cap. Just charge more for the accessories.

I’m currently waiting on doordash to deliver our thermal bag today so we can go out and make our 3rd attempt. Hoping for good results either today or tomorrow.

I used to donate too. I can’t anymore. It feels good to be able to help others though. Not long ago I did volunteer with cancer patients. That felt good but was also emotionally difficult.

My wife has 5,148 cousins and wants to buy them all presents. They don’t buy us presents.

i think true generosity is proportional to what you have… so for example a poor person who gives even a dollar has done way more than a billionaire who gives a million dollars away. I know this is not what your post was about really but just saying.

Theres a quote i like from mother theresa that “For love to be real, it must cost, it must hurt, it must empty us of self.” So i think the fact that you give even a little when maybe money may be tight is a great thing man.
