In England. idk about the rest of the UK. There’s a huge lack of jobs since AI took entry level jobs supposedly.
Currency is slowly becoming worth less than the paper it’s printed on. By some bleak estimates (I don’t believe this but I can understand it)
It’s really sad because a lot of people are, myself including, upset they went to university and if they are earning enough to pay back loans - they see sizeable reduction in pay.
Just a generation ago, like two years before I was eligible to go to university. Degrees cost 3k’ish. Now they’re 30k’ ,not including living costs loans.
I’ve been applying for work left right and centre since reducing my medication dose. And it’s been of no avail. I had a library supervisor interview but they cancelled it.
Inflation is a silent thief, and covid slowed the economy down so much that countries like the UK and US artificially pumped up the economy by printing money thereby weakening the purchasing power of the pound and dollar.
Try to think of jobs that are AI-proof. Some that come to mind are healthcare (though you will probably need some type of certification), such as a sonogram tech, radiology tech, physical therapy assistant, etc.
You can also apply to be a paid apprentice for plumbing, HVAC, electrician, home improvement. Do you have companies such as Home Depot or Lowe’s? They are home improvement.
I know it’s tough to find a job, but just keep trying.
@Catman yeah, I hear you. The only jobs I have experience of are hospitality stuff and sales stuff. Sales stuff that I’ve been headhunted for require me to have a driver’s licence which is pretty normal.
Health care like health care support worker often require a drivers licence now too.
Cant afford to take lessons yet, bc I’m trying to get mounjaro through private healthcare providers. Which costs what would have gone to driving lessons.
Thank you for the encouragement. I’m definitely gonna keep applying. Hopefully by summer or middle summer. I’ll have something
I had been struggling since 2022 to find something, I just took a part-time zero hours role recently and only work once to three times a month and still get to keep uc. im hoping to find something else but in the meantime it helps me get into the swing of working again. but I agree I think its ai thats why I was struggling to find something.
Nope, done enough to know theyre largely nonsense. I did one for McDonald’s once with completely nonsense answers, (ticked every first box) and then got the job.
