Ive never been a chatty person but Ive felt this has become worse since high school.
I wish I could talk normally like other people. Was recently on vacation with my boyfriend and I feel so bad because I couldnt hold a conversation for longer than a few sentences with him. And the phrases I said were often just stuff I kept repeating. Or sometimes I say something but its in the wrong order.
I want to talk more but I just cant because my mind goes empty, like Im made out of nothing. All words and meaning structures get jumbled around or flies away.
Its much easier to write because at least I can spend however long I need to think what to write.
i suppose its something you gotta work up to. Nothing wrong with being a quiet person, but it can be healthy to speak up sometime. maybe try talking every day on the phone with friends for an hour or something can help
I think much slower, and have trouble with finding words when speaking ever since starting antipsychotics. It’s my one pet peeve even though I like my current meds
Do you see a therapist? Therapy may help. Have you heard of “thought journaling?” Thought journaling is writing down your thoughts and feelings about conversations and testing them against reality. For example, what would really happen if you didn’t know the answer to a question? If you’re anxious in conversations, why? What is really going to happen?
oh don’t feel sad. I like quiet people because they are so pleasant tó be around. I’m a talking head too loud to fit into anyone’s company. So spare people from my company I sit in my apartment talking to no one and listning to all kinds of music.
I just stay mute most of the time, easy peasy, not even Japanese spoken. Never was particularly social, let alone chatty, but this disease really shut my mouth for a good measure. Besides, if there is nothing particularly worthwhile spoken, why speak content free small talk, because it is some sniffed social glue, or something along those lines.
