Money management skills

We now will be ok for the month now that the government stopped double charging me for medicare insurance…it’s still early in the month but if it goes as planned we won’t run out of money for food. Anyone else struggling with cost of groceries?

I try to be frugal but basic living costs are pretty high and they seem to be rising all the time. At least no serious debt or anything, just minimal living for the most part and definitely no consumerism taking place. Just wish money would grow on trees ready to be picked up. :money_with_wings: :leafless_tree:

Money management is by far my best daily living skill. My savings are limited by the amount you can have before deductions are made. It helps that I’m not a boozer or smoker. It also helps that I’ve cut down on the takeaways. Dominos minimum spend isn’t geared towards single persons. The Chinese takeaway, less than a mile from me,charges £4 for admin and delivery.

I paid off my student loans last year. This year I’m paying off a credit card debt. Next year I’m doing house projects and saving money. I’m only using a credit card for streaming services. Now a days you can finance big house repairs if you don’t have the money but owning a house you need a nest egg. Everything breaks at once.

I’ve been paying off debts for at least 4 years now, still got some to pay off. So money management isn’t my strength but that could also be because i’m in low income anyway. But then, I shouldn’t complain, i’ve been a terrible smoker for a long time.

We spent 308 dollars and change the last time we went to the grocery store…so yes…groceries are huge in the budget these days. THey can make or break your budget for the month.

We’re really struggling to buy groceries. My husband is refusing to let me by the less healthy / non organic foods that would make things easier because it’s not good for us in the long run. So I eat 1200 calories per day now. It’s not just dieting, it’s to have enough for him to eat. He’s a 6’6” body builder who needs calories.

Even then, we don’t have enough to cover if and we’re using up our savings. Eventually, when the savings run out, I’m guessing we’ll switch to the cheap foods.

For example, we only pasture raised eggs, and we don’t eat the store brand meat because it has dye, hormones , etc in it. But getting foods without that are extremely expensive. When I was working, my paycheck was covering our groceries. But I can’t work right now. So there goes our savings…
