I told my oldest sister that if I lost my job I would move into a smaller, cheaper unit. She told my other sister this and we were out to lunch the other day and my sister said I don’t need to worry about it. I understood the hint but I wasn’t sure. Right before she dropped me off at my apartment she told me again not to worry about money, “I have a safety net” and I wouldn’t have to move into the small unit. My sister retired last year and got married and I know they retired with at least a million dollars. Financial experts say even a million dollars isn’t enough to retire on these days but my sisters husband still works and makes good money so I know they’re well off and I’m planning on working until I drop but it’s nice to know I have that “safety net” and they would help me out financially if I lost my job.

That probably depends a great deal on where you live.
But I am happy that you a safety net. It’s good to have piece of mind.
