oh I see what your saying. Adopt one instead of getting from a breeder.
Thanks @FreeLunch
I got my daughter and elkhound bluetick mix from the pound and that thing was crazy!! Thing had so much energy. You couldn’t control it. I had to give it away. It got so bad.
I have a French Bulldog
They are great low energy dogs that don’t require a lot of exercise but they are big babies that don’t tolerate the heat and cold temperatures
My mate at uni was the son of a vetinary surgeon. His rule was he would only have mutts. He found them to be best balance of health and intelligence
You know in his whole 40 career he only got bit by a dog once! Pretty good going for a vet!
I may be biased but pugs are amazing. The are like Velcro dogs though. Always want to be close by you.
If you’re after a bigger breed I think Rhodesian ridgebacks are beautiful. I had one many years ago. He wasn’t high maintenance either.
I think you’re wise regarding the pit bull breed.
Whatever you do don’t get a husky lol they’re insane , will bite the walls and run all over the place. They’re amazing and I love them but they do have a lot of energy. Also they’re horrible guard dogs and will likely do nothing if a burglar breaks in ![]()
Get a doodle or labradoodle. $$$
Get a Labradoodle. You’ll be glad you did it. Or a chocolate or black Lab.
Im not for Pitbulls BUT I do advocate for Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Nicknamed the Nanny Dog due to their love of people BUT not good with other animals, as per their temperament standard.
My dad has a staffy many years ago. Lovely dog.
My advice as a dog owner who has had both big and small, and calm and aggressive dogs is to adopt through a rescue that does foster care.
That way you can learn from someone who knows firsthand the dog’s temperament and grooming needs. They’ll also already be spayed/neutered, vetted, and typically also house training You also find out if they’re good with cats, dogs and children that way
I would go with a lab. I have a pittlab mix and shes great. Labs are known to be good aervice dogs for a reason they also make great pets
