I used to not have positive symptoms on 3mg risperidone but had severe negative and cognitive symptoms. I do not have a pdoc since 2021 and my family dr knows nothing about sz, he just does what I tell him to do. I was dumb and told him to stop my meds and prescribe me Wellbutrin which increases dopamine. He did it. I also took ldopa from mucuna pruriens supplement which also increases dopamine.
I almost went to the emergency by myself I felt like relapsing because the pharmacy refused to give me antipsychotics and next family dr apt was in over a month. Next day I told them I am suicidal and they gave me an apt next day. Dose was gradually lowered over a month.
Since that time whenever I lower to 3mg from 6 or 8mg I hear a voice repeat what I hear. But negative and cognitive symptoms got better, I do not have positive symptoms now but I am on a much higher dose.
I shower everyday and shave every week.
Here pdocs stop seeing you if you are stable for a couple of years and they transfer you to your family dr.
Yea he is not a psychiatrist and knows nothing about sz. When my blood test showed high prolactin he thought it was due to brain cancer and wanted me to do an mri. I told him its the risperidone causing high prolactin.
I don’t understand how on earth your doc can prescribe you dopamine inducing meds like Wellbutrin when you suffer from schizophrenia? It’s common sense.
Dude! You are sick. You need meds. No dopamine sucks but it’s better than being hospitalized and crazy.
If you sounded competent and in good health maybe the doctor thought you were okay but it’s strange he did exactly what you asked for. As for the brain tumor I had a prolactinoma on my pituitary which also caused high prolactin so it might be worth checking. I really hope you recover soon. Antipsychotics are pretty essential if you suffer schizophrenia because they reduce symptoms and psychotic episodes.
Aziz , in good faith , I recommend you reading up on diet and supplements. Nothing else other than lifestyle changes help with the negative and cognitive symptoms
Look up articles on bdnf and ngf, I am unsure why you would think that increasing dopamine in your brain will cure you when it is the cause of our illness
You know I went to my mom in the nursing home at it got clear to me that this is freedom. I realized that I would loose my freedom if I didn’t take my antipsychotic pill.
So I just take my pill and can do what ever I like.
