Running commentary as mindfulness method

Hey guys. I would say that running commentary is also a method of meditation mindfulness. What do you think?

Sometimes I think life isn’t that bad. I think things could be worse. This helps me find comfort in my suffering. I think we all try to minimize our symptoms and life circumstances in an attempt to feel normal. I’m just an actor in this play called life. I try to make the most of it. But I know I’ve been dealt a bad hand. So I minimize my suffering to give myself a sense of normalcy. I find comfort in my suffering. Good things.

I dont know alot about meditation …..but I think you are trying to reach a point of serenity through it. I’m not sure how running commentary would play into that.

I would think it, at minimum it would be distracting and make it harder to reach this state.

I guess if you are used to them, maybe not as much.

I dont know. I dont hear voices so I dont have any experience with that.

So I have little experience with meditation and no experience with voices.

Tell me again why I am commenting in this thread? I dont seem qualified  .

Lol no problem. Thank you for your input.

Mindfulness seems similar to running commentary. Not like deep meditation but being always aware of what you do or think.

Commenting on actions that you do is not the same as knowing what one thinks.

Do you have running commentary as to how you think? i.e. I am thinking about a ‘certain book’ at the moment. I am thinking about its content.’ and then returning to the breath or nothingness again.

That would be a more real mindfulness method, imho.

I think running commentary is not focused, is generalized and directionless. Meditation is usually focused and has a purpose, which results in purposeful thoughts aimed at achieving peace.
