Support Worker first screening type interview

It was so rude, the interviewer asked me why I left my last role. And I was just thinking fair, I’ve had that before but it’s really no business of an employer to know that. If they really need to know about past employment ; they should do the due diligence and ask for references.

I hate the culture we have at the moment, where employers know they have all the influence over the outcome and potential employees are more or less dependent on whatever they can get

She never called back or emailed back to reject me either. Just cut the line and left it at that. Piss poor excuse for a company/business

In my experience they always ask that to help determine if they are just more of what you don’t like or not. They’re trying to make sure you’re a good enough fit that you’ll stay a long time

I still think it’s rude of them. If past employment is needed, references should be sought and properly assessed imo

I got asked that especially when applying to nhs jobs there is a section asking why I left. Most my work has been contracts so I’d just say it was a contract … but with my last one it was for health reasons so id say it was a contract but I left to focus on my health but ready to work now. also it has gotten much worse @anon27913786 I used to find it a lot easier before to find work it has gotten so much harder

also people don’t have the decency to tell you , you didn’t get through… its very frustrating and you just get ghosted, even when sometimes you ask for the outcome.

I think you’re right. The fact that employees are basically in a position where they have to beg for jobs is so messed up. It should be the opposite. Employers should be going out of their way to find new employees and we should have a saturated market where employees are the ones in control

I applied for an internship earlier today. And the managing director of the company herself (small consultancy) - emailed me back with a detailed outline of what to expect and even said call me if you need extra details. That’s what they’re meant to be doing, that’s called respect/decency @Ish @FreeLunch

I had a great experience with the recruiting team for a janitorial position in Rhode Island that I ended up not taking and they were so adamant about me taking the job that they were against me not taking the job. They actually told me that they wanted me to take the job even though I told her I didn’t want to

All jobs could be that way

@FreeLunch i respectfully disagree. Not everyone is a good fit for every job. Yes, it should be easier, but not too easy either. It’s important for employees to try hard and do their best. If they feel lots of power, many, and I mean many, employees will completely slack off. The attitude gets all wrong. Customer service fails. And the business goes down.

We need to have more available jobs, but also have expectations of employees to perform their best with a good attitude towards each other, the bosses, and the clients/customers/tasks.

I’m not against people working hard. I’m just against people being forced into labor. We should be attracted to it

That’s all
