Do you buy into the whole brain structure or bad gene theory? Or do you think it was more than 1 thing?
My childhood caused my schizophrenia
Genetics, runs in the family.
I have an uncle with sz.
I don’t know if we have a schizo ancestor.
Childhood trauma maybe
My father’s mother had it so it’s partially genetic and then my father abused me as a child and teen so I think that triggered the symptoms to manifest.
Trauma for me!
I started off ok but the illness developed but it has improved a lot through management so its not all bad, my P/doc is telling me he thinks I was misdiagnosed and that I actually have a personality disorder. but this doesn’t seem right to me but I’m just going to have to roll with it, I was fully symptomatic for a long time until a better med helped me function better.
A combination of genes, a bad childhood, and a terrible bad trip on mushrooms where i was a victim of an armed robbery. I loathe hallucinogens for the same reason - even they are very popular today. My nephew was hospitalised, had ECT, a bad psychosis due to a LSD trip. I hope he is not scared for life like me
Born with it in combination with difficult childhood and using weed in adolescence
Well I was always schizotypal.
It developed into sz
Being overly well-endowed.
(Look, I’m trying to change the stigma around the illness, okay?)
Probably genetic for me
I had an episode 3 weeks ago that lasted 8 days. I got out without meds. I always thought that my rough upbringing resulted in having had a short psychotic break. This one got triggered because I and go to school for peer support which made me realise I was sexually abused as a child. If anyone wondering I am on a low dose of antipsychotic’s now just for some light demping effects
College stress and police killings. I’m black so it made my paranoia worse. Edit: or maybe rather the videos and images that surfaced.
Probably drugs
I think smoking weed caused my sz.
genetic predisposition combined with external stress factors + conditioning and excessive weed use at a young age
The trauma of isolation and violence
Various ACEs perhaps (adverse childhood experiences). Androgenic steroid use. Nootropic use. Family history of mental illness.
