What job did you do? Did you do small business to make a living?

I was a engineer in a joint venture of GM in Shenyang, but this year GM stopped making cars in Shenyang because of the rise of e-cars.

Also, I had been selling soft drinks and cigarettes in a kiosk for about 6 years with the help of my family members.

Now, I work in a local company for about 20 years.

It is not easy to make a living with schizophrenia.

I’ve worked in several department stores unloading trucks and stocking shelves, I’ve worked in a couple of restaurants, I’ve worked in a couple of warehouses, I did maintenance at a hot tub joint in the 80’s. I’ve worked doing mailing projects, I was a park ranger for 22 months. I worked doing recycling and moving furniture at HP. My ex brother-in-law hired me to watch my 12 year old nephew and help him with his homework and keep him entertained after school. I did that for about 5 months. I’ve been at my current janitor job for 14 years.

I worked as a customer service specialist at a McDonald’s franchise where I would monitor birthday parties, fundraisers, etc at various stores. Then I started working as an administrative assistant at a big pharma company (in their tech dept), but that turned into me working for them as a financial analyst. Now I teach very part-time.

I have a new job as a telemetry technician. I monitor patient EKG readings, up to 48 patients at a time, though not usually that many. I had four weeks of hands-on training, yet I’m terrified about being on my own for the first time tomorrow. I sure hope it goes okay.

My last job was assistant manager at a cannabis dispensary, worked there 4.5 years before I was downsized. I’ve worked a lot of different jobs: higher ed, customer service, blue collar…
