I go through times when I give my best, and it’s not enough people like family don’t understand how these AP make me feel, iam always tired and wore out by doing nothing, but i put on my game face on and help my dad around the house. But that’s not what I am saying, what time is it when you get off work like 5 pm or maybe 4 it feels like I worked out for like 12 hours straight when I am just trying to do something simple. Most people don’t feel completely exhausted from a 8 or 12 hour shift. But I do one thing I feel completely exhausted it’s these damn meds,I want to get off then, but I know that not a good idea, cause I know myself well enough, but I wish I could just live a life without being completely exhausted, does anyone else feel like this. I just feel like laying on the couch or in bed,and I am only on 35.5 mg shot of prolixin, and 25 mg of Adderall,Wich should help but it don’t, tell me what y’all think
This is something that has been discussed many times on this and the old forum.
What it inevitably boils down to is this : These drugs are not to be taken lightly. If you dont need them, dont take them.
But for a large portion of us its either tha AP’s or pychosis. I would rather be with side effects and tired and sane than have l lots of energy in psychosis.
THere really isnt much more than can be said I dont think.
The lesser of 2 evils.
It would be nice if we could all not take the AP’S and be sane. It would be the best of both worlds…but things in real life are often not like that. THings are harsh and REAL.
Well said @SzSupportAdmin
Keeps me grounded
I hear a lot of complaints about sz not liking their meds…ap’s rather…I love my ap…generic prolixin…fluphenazine…wonder drug for me…love it…no side effects.
Maybe some lighter, less sedative drugs would work. But it is true that it is a compromise and it is risky to switch treatments around. Some more controversial suggestions are stimulants and supplements too. And hope for better treatments on the horizon is there, if it helps any. But at least you seem to be able to work and can function somewhat. Doctor’s call all in all, drugs and all.
My AP’s are amisulpride and haloperidol. They don’t give me too much trouble. Just a little drooling and akathisia. Nothing too bad. But I try to be on the lowest dose as possible. When I’m not compliant it’s not because of side effects but because I believe mistakenly that I don’t need them. But when I am not compliant I become ill again eventually and have to return to prescribed dose. That’s what happened recently as well.
